How is 1950s America similar to post 9/11 society

Post 9/11 society is very similar to 1950s America because in both cases they share the similarity that they btw face a fear from a terror threat. In 1950s America it was from communism and in post 9/11 society it is Terrorist. However these threats are both very different and want different things when compared to each other. Russia wanted to give its ideologies and beliefs to the u.s and terrorists just want to cause terror and chaos in order to demonstrate their beliefs and ideologies to a western society. Even though both cases where feared and strongly hated by an American capitolist society Russia's approach was more docile as they only wanted assimilation wheres as terrorists wanted annihilation. Both of these things are very similar because in both cases the public where very paranoid about the communists/terrorists invading their way of living and change what they believe and how they live.
