Comparative Analysis: Opening scene

Full Metal Jacket and A Clockwork orange have a huge contrast in the way both films open, which helps get Kubrick intention for each respective film across.
For example, A Clockwork Orange begins with a score that signifies a dystopian future accompanied by a completely blood red background which usually will signify danger or anger, therefore subconsciously linking this to the audience. It shifts then to a blue background which indicates a calm element about it, and also provides the duality of Alex's character without even introducing him yet.
On contrast, Full Metal Jacket begins with an completely black background and has the basis of simplicity surrounding it, in order to have no ulterior motive towards any of the significant character which is also followed with a song about going off to Vietnam, serving the same purpose as the Clockwork Orange score, it introduces us the environment and genre we are about to enter.
The scene in A Clockwork Orange then immediately cuts to an extreme close up of Alex simply staring into the camera, and therefore us as an audience. This extreme close up opening signifies Alex has some importance to the story.
