Comparison between Clerks and Goldeneye
When it comes to independent films they are low budget meaning the producers of the film do not have not have many resources so they have to try and make themselves stand out to make sure there is a reason for people to actually watch the film. But also most independent producers want to make the film they really want and with no studio restricting the producer of the film they have the freedom to their film as artistic and unique as their budget allows to them because the director/producer of the film needs it to stand out so that it is able to get praise of the critics which means that a lot of people start talking about the film which means that quite a few people might actually end up seeing the movie because of what they have heard. Now the reason indie films have to do this is because indie films do not usually have a big budget to work with so put most of the budget into making the film the best it can be then a small portion of the budget actually goes on the marketing which is what makes indie films so hard to actually be heard about. Independent films do not have the budget to make big blockbusters or make Oscar winning films so another thing Clerks had to do is make the film and the characters more realistic this is because that the movie would then be able relate with the audience meaning the audience will then get more connected with the film meaning that the jokes that are told in the film are a lot funnier because they are a lot easier to relate to meaning that the film eventually connected to more audiences because more and more people started talking about it. Also Clerks makes sure that the characters are developed quite well because this movie is aimed at a niche audience they need to make sure they get what they came for which is a unique film with good character development and a good story.
Now Goldeneye is a completely different story because with Goldeneye the producers and director have to concentrate on earning profits of the film so that they are able to keep producing more films and ultimately keep the film studio up and running. This means that this does not allow the director or writers or anyone involved with making the film much freedom because they have to stick to a certain structure to make sure they bring an audience in and actually make a profit because the mainstream audience expect to see a simple story that they can get a hold of right away and enjoy the film from the get go. Another thing that is different is that the director/producer has a much bigger budget to work with meaning that they are able to make the film they want but also at the same time they have plenty of budget left over to have a brilliant marketing scheme meaning that lots people will end up seeing the movie as it was spread around everywhere. With Goldeneye the producers knew they had the budget to not need to risk the film with a unique narrative or artistic style because they can replace them with explosions and lots and lots of action because that is what the main stream audience want not anything unique but something simple. In Goldeneye their is not really character development because the mainstream audience do not care much for character development when it comes to the audience of Goldeneye they want to see action and explosions this means that the overall character development time is quite short.
