During the finale, how are both Alex and the spectator rewarded?

During the final scene of 'A Clockwork Orange', the spectator is fully relieved as Alex is 'cured' because it is as though the spectator is also cured due to the alignment created. We are pleased to see Alex return to his previous state and can have his happiness back. This then translates to the fact the spectator can stop being punished alongside Alex for enjoying watching the same things he does. As Alex imagines the scene of him using a women for sexual purposes again, we feel more relaxed enjoying a naked women being on screen and it once again reflects the 'male gaze' theory. A sense of equilibrium is put across as Alex has come full circle and can now continue his life as he did before and we are fully satisfied as spectators.

As we have aligned with Alex throughout the journey, we are excited he's been 'set free' of the treatment's aftermath because we are able to make excuses for his actions and view them in a positive light rather than negative. This reflects our emotions when we feel 'uplifted' at the end because we are 'set free' with him.
