In this essay I will be analysing how 3D took off and how it has progressed throughout the years, I have chosen an article which was written by Miriam Ross in December 2011, it is about 3D dance films and the three dance films she has chosen are Pina, Streetdance and Stepup. In the article she explains how 3D has changed throughout the years and why they have used it in dance films.
3D has progressed rapidly since the make of Avatar in 2009, Avatar is about a mythical film in Pandora, and the film is based in the future, 2025 to be exact. The main characters are Jake Sully who is a paraplegic former marine who is taking place of his deceased brother. The humans use things called Na’vi avatars to help Jake and his fellow co-workers access into the place of Pandora. Colonel Miles Quaritch head of the RDA’s private security force, promises Jake that the company will restore his legs if he collects intelligence about the Na’vi and their gathering place, a giant arboreal called Hometree, once Grace, another one of the main characters who also works for the RDA transfers herself, Jake and Norm to an outpost.
3D dance films
are also extremely popular; my favorite one out of the three has to be
Streetdance, because the art of the camera works so reflectively on the dancers
and allows you to see them more clearly and realistically. “3D moving images enhance the physical proficiency that is already
apparent in the teen-dance film genre.” I agree with this statement because
in the club scene, the dancers do this ‘fountain’ fountain like move where it
looks as though the girl is coming right out at you, this creates the feeling
as though you are actually in the club with them which I think is what makes it
a good 3D dance film as you feel as though you can see the people in the
background more clearly.
