Colin Stokes talks about 'how movies teach manhood?' on TEDx Beacon street.
In this show he talks about the 'Bechdel test' which is three questions.
- Are there at least two women?
- Do they talk to eachother?
- About something other than a man?
He says that we should really be looking for movies that fit in with the Bechdel test, as well as this he states, "Of the top 100 movies of 2011 how many of them had female protagonists?" the answer was 11.
this is very low and should be higher, we see these films as different as original films have male protagonists. recently disney films such as Brave have shown this having a strong female role model. However in most Disney films there are female role models however they are shown differently.
