'The stylistic choices made by filmmakers defines not just the look of the film but also the meaning of the film.' How far is this true of the films you have studied for this topic? [35]
Even from the opening shot in Paris there are many things that suggest to the audience that the trio and Paris are opposites. First of all this is a very unique shot, the reverse dolly zoom is used here to disorientate the audience. Also this can connote a variety of things, like that the city of Paris is closing in on the trio but also showing that the city is far away and connoting that being 'french' is unobtainable, this is reinforced by the fact that the background is blurred and looks far away.
The Eiffel Tower shot is very unique, it shows the eiffel Tower and the Iconography thats connoted with Paris as small, and therefore insignificant. However, in normal cinema, the Eiffel Tower is seen as this huge beacon of French values, however its disregarded in this whole film.
The second half as a whole is very distinct compared to the first half of the film. Firstly, the whole of the second half is shot at night, aswell as creating tension in the story it creates the feeling of the strrets being unsafe and roamed by thugs.
