Carter and Margaret on the Bridge
The scene begins with Carter getting out of his car, an establishing shot follows to show a set of docks with a large boat sailing towards the bridge which is in the distance. Then the camera cuts to a two shot to show Carter and Margaret talking, Carter asks about Frank in which Margaret doesn't really care even though she regularly saw him once a week. Margaret gets frustrated and walks off in which Carter follows her, Margaret tells Carter how Frank wanted to marry her but she was already with someone else, she says that Frank threatened to kill himself if she didn't marry him. Carter takes off her glasses, crunches them up and throws them off the bridge and says "I don't believe you, Frank wasn't like that. Im the villain in the family remember". Margaret replies in a rushed and fearful tone, much different to her voice before hand and says "its true! it is honestly!" and Carter replies saying "You bloody whore, Frank was too bloody careful to die like that. Now who killed him?", Margaret replies "I don't know nothing", Carter then grabs her arms and pulls her towards her, she looks at him in fear and panics. Carter tells her that the only reason he has came to Newcastle is to find out who killed his brother so he can have his revenge. A car turns up and someone shouts "Hello Jack", Carter then says to Margaret "You bitch, it was you who told them I was here wasn't it?" Margaret begins to shake and breath heavily in fear of the now infuriated Jack and he slaps her.
Carter asserts his authority on Margaret from the very beginning by being aggressive towards her in the way he is talking to her, Margaret is clearly in fear of Carter as she tries not to react and remains calm at the beginning of the scene but towards the end of the scene she becomes fearful as Carter is the more dominant between them. Margaret is calm at the beginning of the scene and doesn't tell Carter much, but due to not telling him anything Carter begins to get angry and abusive as Margaret is not giving him the information what he wants. This shows how men in the film result to violence when they don't get what they want and begin to act abusive towards women and Carter does to Margaret when he violently grabs her and then slaps her towards the end. When Carter is abusive towards Margaret she doesn't do anything as she is the weaker between the two and Carter is more physically dominant, this shows how men in the film assert their authority over women by using their physical strength.

Carter strangles a woman and kills Albert
The scene begins with Carter entering a diner and asking a woman "wheres Albert" in a calm tone, she doesn't reply he then walks towards her and strangles her and asks again, but this time in a much more aggressive and threatening tone. Still she doesn't reply but instead Carter says he knows where Albert will be. Carter walks into a bookies and finds Albert, Albert looks at Carter with fear in his eyes and says that he knows nothing about Franks killing, Carter tells him if he doesn't give him information he will kill him and Albert replies saying "I know". Carter forces Albert outside saying Albert wants to go to the toilet, when they get outside Albert tries to run away but Carter stops him. Albert gives Carter the information Carter needs as Carter threatens to kill him if he does not do so, but even after Albert has given him the information he kills him anyway.
