How is 'The North' represented in Get Carter?
The North is represented in many ways and through many scenes. When Carter first enters Newcastle he goes into a pub. All the locals look at Carter and act unfriendly and hostile towards him, Carter looks down on them all as he thinks he has a superiority over them. This is visually signified through the way Carter is shot and framed, he is show always at a low angle and he is framed standing up. This is done to show us that he overpowers the people in the pup and it's also done to show the mis-en-scene of his clothes, connoting wealth and status, furthermore reinforcing the idea that he thinks he is superior to everybody else. When Carter first enters Newcastle he is shot from a POV of someone watching him an this shows that Newcastle is full of suspicion
