Mental Health in film
The Joker from the Batman films/comics presents an over all representation of mental health in film. The sort of job for the character of the Joker is essentially to be the opposite to the protagonist Batman, and to be the antagonist, the Joker character is a "psychotic killer" who has no real motives and allow his mental condition to control his actions. The Joker represents mental health as the character is known for being schizophrenic, however on a whole the character is a exaggerated for the character type purposes.
The Joker represents a negative view on what it is like to suffer from a mental issue as the character suffers from one, however the character is exaggerated as he has no motives other than to kill for no reason other than to spread terror. The character of the Joker represents people who suffer mental health issues as insane maniacs who enjoy spreading terror. The character of the Joker is shown to be insane in the film 'The Dark Knight' especially in the scene were Batman interrogates the Joker and ends up hitting him, in which the Joker begins to laugh like he is enjoying being harmed.
In the film Psycho mental health is also represented through the character of Norman Bates. Similarly Norman and the character of the Joker both kill people or get people to do the killing, this poses as a common representation of people suffering from a mental illness in film.https://urbantimes.co/2014/12/33-fantastic-films-mental-disorders/
