Blade Runner

At the beginning of Blade Runner, it is opened up at an establishing shot of the camera moving forward in this Dystopian world. The camera is placed at an extreme wide angle shot of the above the world that has had some sort of unknown tragedy that hit it, this has biblical connotations of a real life hell. The camera moves the audience forward into this abnormal world getting a feel of the environment. Furthermore into the film it shows an ECU of a human eye which has donations that human life still alive in this unknown futuristic apocalypse. Then the audience is drawn into more of this industrial wasteland which presents an unusual pyramid which seems to be the main building of Los Angeles in 2019. This is where the shot cuts to a new location  

We learn that the theme of tragedy and danger instantly in the film due to the fire that appears to the dark black sky and fire explosions that appear to becoming out of the top of tall buildings in the city. Also the flat black wasteland that is denoted in the scene shows no appearance of nature as the majority of everything seems to have died out.
