What role do the media play in La Haine?

The sequence opens with a dissolve effect to inform the audience that there has been a passage of time and that the trio have been sitting around doing nothing in the same position for a while - this is also a message that the trio have a lack of opportunities as they sit around all day doing nothing in the environment that they are in, which can been seen as almost an animal enclosure. Then we see from a low angled shot a media van drive past and then reverse back to where the trio are sitting. They the pull out a camera and a microphone and start filming - the trio take offence o this and so act verbally abusive toward the camera crew telling them to leave them alone and stop filming them. We then see a shot with the POV of the media where is is a close up shot of Vinz's face when he is showing aggression - this lets the media create and reinforce the negative stereotype
