First attack on a woman:
- starts with tracking shot from a painting of flowers to a wide shot of a woman being tossed around by a group of men
- the non-diegetic music is "The Thieving Magpie" by Rossini, classical music is a constant theme throughout, music contrasts to the heinous act
- the first part of the tracking shot shows the theatres best, suggests that the theatre was expensive to build and to be in, and in its day be very elegant with the accents of gold -> the wide shot shows us that the theatre had been abandoned for a while, the leftover chairs and costumes looks like they had been tossed about by trespassers and the leftover piano had been vandalised
- the camera cuts to a medium CU/wide shot of the stage/attack
- the woman, when shot, is always centre of the frame making it difficult to look away or to focus on anything else
- the only light we see looks like it is coming from off the stage and shining on to the stage implying that the attack is a show to watch (for Alex to watch)
- the narration makes it seem like Alex is the hero and implies that he has saved the woman in the situation
- Alex's face is never shot close up when he is fighting which, makes it difficult to place Alex in the scene
- the Droogs and Alex are all dressed alike, again making it difficult to say if Alex is there and if so where or who he is
- the only CU of Alex we do receive is when he whistles at the Droogs to follow him to leave when the police are arriving suggesting that he is a vigilante
