Jennifer Lawrence
Montage of images that represent her image:
How is her image constructed?
She
is relatable to a lot of the audience . For example, when she tripped when going
to collect her Oscar. Many celebrities would be put together to look absolutely
perfect and not a flaw on them. She then does a rude gesture to the press box
which shows that she is just a normal person.
She
stands up for women who do not get equal pay,
she wrote an essay for her friend Lena Dunham’s Lenny Letter news
letter. She was upset to find that she was being payed less than her male co stars for the same
job. She stated that the need to ‘be liked’ and the fear of seeming ‘difficult’
or ‘spoiled’ kept her from demanding more money. That and the fact that she still gets a
considerable amount of money for what she does.
She
tends to stay away from organisations that
are to raise money through acts such as ‘ The ice bucket challenge’ because she
feels as though they are more about making a trend than supporting the cause.
She
fights for what she believes in. For example when she stated that she was
considered a fat actress in Hollywood, she says that ‘she eats like a caveman
and is probably one of the only actresses in Hollywood who is not involved in
anorexia rumours’. By
saying this, because she is a huge role model, she will have helped a lot of
teenage girls and women over 18 with issues about their weight.
To
many, Jennifer Lawrence would come across to some people as outspoken and
sometimes rude. But this also benefits her in the strong female roles that she plays. This makes the audience have a certain view of her and portrays an image that she i capable to play one of these roles.
