What is the function of Anna in the narrative of Get Carter?

Anna is a key character to the narrative of Get Carter as she is the perfect representation of how female liberation was not taking action and women were still heavily controlled by men. Anna is paled by the model Brit Ekland, this is significant as she was voted the most beautiful woman by men of 1970 showing that she would have attracted a huge male audience and she was their fantasy so this scene makes their fantasy come to life and gives the heterosexual male audience pleasure. This also reinforces the idea she is sexually desired by not only the characters in the narrative but also the male audience.

In the scene where Anna is in bed is the second scene where we see her, however after this scene she is degraded by Carter and forgotten in the narrative. Throughout this scene Anna is passive and Cater is active as she obeys all his commands and does everything he says even though he is only on the phone, this signifies what he can pleasure with just his voice and demonstrates his power and masculinity over her.
This scene is primarily shot between Anna's legs which is a very intimate way to shoot the scene but it gives the indication that someone is watching her and the obstructed frame provides a voyeuristic experience for the audience, this also indicates what in 1970 this is how men expected to see women in film and that they are reduced to objects used to pleaser them. The shot type of this scene also relates to visual pleasure and the narrative cinema theory as it shows that men want to view women lie that and this is exactly how the director has shot the scene so the audience can gain sexual pleasure from the way she is positioned and the ways in which the camera is positions and the parts of her body that are focussed on. As the scene progresses we never see her full body she is always shot in body parts and only when her pleasure is stopped by a man she is shot as a full body.
In this scene Anna is lead by Carters voice and as the Fletcher brother walks into the bedroom he thins she has gut troubles as it does not enter his head that a woman could possibly pleasure herself, she is used by him for him and it doesn't register to him that she could possibly try and give herself pleasure. In addition to this Carter also cuts Anna off as he prevents her from pleasing herself and makes her wait till he is home because that way he can also gain pleasure and in some ways she is unable to please herself she needs a man to do that for her, which she obeys to.
