Get Carter - Representation of men
Women as Victims
In Margaret's final scene, we see Carter holding a gun to her head and forcing her to strip naked which forces the audience to see her only as a sexual object. In this scene, Jack is using his masculinity as a threat, he has a gun to her head and is forcing her to do something against her will. He is doing this because he is using her to get Kinear caught by the police however, Margaret was used in the first place by Kinear to get Frank. This shows that men only used women for their own benefit for information and revenge. Kinear essentially owns Margaret's sexuality showing that the contraceptive pill mainly benefitted men, he was able to send her off to be a prostitute for his business and not have to worry about her getting pregnant.
Margaret is a victim because she is overpowered by a man and forced into a drug overdose. She was supposed to be a liberated women who could control the actions towards her but as soon as a traditional man appears, she is forced into becoming inferior. When she is dead, Jack doesn't treat her with respect, he picks her up like a rag doll and then goes and dumps her body in a lake. This shows that he sees her as only having one purpose and that purpose is to serve men, even when she's dead he continues to use her as a way of getting revenge, not even having the basic respect to bury her or leave her clothed.
