Research Article one- A more acceptable pleasure: Food and Sex in film

The article: 'A more acceptable pleasure:food and sex in film' was written by Katie O'connor, on February 1st of 2016. I chose to use this article as it caught my interest and it related highly to my subject matter. The Article over all focus's on the idea that since the being of cinema, up until modern film is that food is used as a pleasurable accept and connotation to sex.

The point being made is that food is used constantly to represent relationship and emotions between two people. O'Connor makes the point that 'food evokes conversations and emotional responses'. This connotes that the reason meals and dates at diners in cinema are a clear representation of sex and what the characters relationship is going turn in to. This could be shown through the way the characters the eat the food. For example the directer specifically chooses the characters to eat fast and pig like to convey not only the 'huger' for the food, but the huger and lust the couple feel for one another. Or whether the directer chooses so that the characters eat slow and politely in order to create a loving relationship that will be based only on the two characters, a love story focused on the love and challenges they face rather than there sex life.
