Future Projects

There are a few films based on video games that are still currently in early testing stages as they still have to work along side new sequels to games being released, films such as Metal Gear Solid and also the much anticipated Halo movie.

The Halo movie has been in testing for some time now and was announced a good 4 years ago. They only announced that it was only a testing project and were not sure if they would carry on the project and at one point they did drop the project completely but more recently it has been pretty much confirmed as at E3 2012 the 343 studios company said that they are currently testing a web series that may lead into feature length film. The fan base for the Halo series is a massive one and this can be used to the possible films advantage of already having an established audience to aim the film at and possibly attempt to go mainstream but is highly unlikely it will appeal to people who have not at least played a Halo game but the fan base for the gaming series is already big enough to make a heavy profit and may become a very popular film. The budget has been rumoured to be $100,000,000 as they attempt to recreate beautiful landscapes, great in depth story and realistic battle scenes to die for.

Here is a link to the first 8 minutes of the film from the testing stage. This was released to get a reaction and feedback from the audience to see where they would go next and if they wanted real acting and action or if they wanted an animated film. This will not be the finished project as it was only a test but is a guide to what we may expect from the film which from this preview is this "Saving private Ryan" layout.

Details so far are as follows;

Director: Neil Blomkamp

Status: In Production.

There had been a fair few rumors from inside the studio such as; Alex Garland was paid $1 million by Microsoft to write an adaptation of the popular game series. Microsoft then sold the script to Universal for $10 Million.

Producer Peter Jackson asked Guillermo del Toro to helm the movie, but del Toro turned the offer down so he could direct Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008).
