The inspiration for the film A Clockwork Orange is based on Anthony Burgess' most famous novel which takes the same name as the film.
During the early 70s there was a lot of gang crime in England, a 'suedehead' said that 'it was about fighting other groups, allegiance to your football team or protecting your friends' and that A Clockwork Orange 'was just a stylised version of the life we were leading'.
