Lord of the rings analysis

Lord of the rings: Return of the king As Frodo plucks up the courage to go into Shelob’s cave it shows the cave that Frodo is about to enter it shows a enclosed cave with a light at the end of it, this would show that if Frodo went into the cave he will then be trapped, Low key lighting has been used inside the cave as Frodo is staring inside with golem, the low key lighting show that something scary is inside the cave and that Frodo should fear whatever it could be inside the cave. As Frodo enters the cave a tracking shot is used to follow Frodo around the cave as if he is being followed by something able to move silently around the cave, this would be a point of view shot and would put the audience in the scene and would be watching Frodo being followed by this unknown creature that you don’t get a look at until further on in the film. Further on in the film it shows another point of view shot of Frodo being watched this could indicate that the creature is in fear because he/she doesn’t want to be seen by Frodo its always got Frodo in the centre of his eye/eyes this would indicate that he is interested in him. As Frodo starts to wonder around the cave and walks past a skeletons hand laid down on a stand this would indicate to the audience that death is awaiting Frodo somewhere in the cave this could be the creature that is following Frodo or something else waiting for him. The next scene is when Frodo is to the right this could show that he isn’t comfortable in this cave and he knows something is around him, it also shows 3 different tunnels at either side of him this would tell the audience that this creature could be anywhere and could attack at any time it also shows the web as a obstacle its sticky and is stopping Frodo from getting. The web in the cave could indicate that this creature could be a spider and due to the amount of web in the cave it could show that it’s big and it has been there for a very long time this would be a threat to Frodo because it has a better advantage then Frodo. When the camera is a high angle wide shot this will show how something watching over Frodo and how much distress and in danger he is in when Frodo starts to look around the cave he takes a glimpse of the creature it moves to the side as if it doesn’t want to be seen by Frodo. As Frodo looks down at what makes the crunch noise when he stands on the skeleton, this is a point of view shot because you are looking out of Frodo’s eyes at the skeleton this would make the audience feel fear for Frodo because its happened to more than one person and Frodo will be next and this makes Frodo look defenceless with his bare feet on the ground and no weapon to defend himself from this creature that kills. We get a close up of Frodo’s face to make it look like he is even more enclosed in this cave this would make the audience know that he now feels alone in this case without anybody there to help him with his quest to get out of this cage alive. There is then a tracking shot of all the different animals that the creature has caught including birds and old bodies thins shows that is creature is after something with meat on to devour
