Cinderella
“Leave the sewing to the
women”
This shows the ideology
that women are domestic and do stereotypical jobs such as cleaning, washing
etc. No mention to men doing domestic tasks. The female mouse says this to the
male mouse when the male offers to do Cinderella a favor (sewing)

Snow White
When in the dwarves house
Snow White she says, “You think their mother would clean!” Even though Snow
White is a girl herself, Disney have made her sexist towards her own gender as
this is teaching girls they should be clean and domestic and according to her
women should stay at home.

The Little Mermaid
Ursula – “What I want from
you is your voice.” This is teaching young girls to just be pretty and silent
and that what they have to say does not matter, as long as they look nice. By
this, Ursula is saying that girls do not need intelligence and that it is not
important for them and that a pretty face is all that matters. Ariel gives up
her voice and by accepting Ursula’s deal, it is teaching little girls that they
must change for men – even if they have to give something up. This leads to
Ariel choosing to give up being a mermaid and chooses to be a human and leave
her family to be with her “true love.” This shows how everything about a girl
is seen as superficial.

Beauty and the Beast
In this film, Disney are
romanticizing domestic abuse towards women and by Belle staying with the beast,
it is showing younger people that it is ok to be in an abusive relationship.
This once again is showing that men are the dominant ones in relationships and
that women should accept that. This teachers younger girls that their identity
does not matter as Belle is dominated by the beast.
