Kill Bill Crazy 88 scene

Among the problematic associations suggested by “Kill Bill,” two in particular stand out when considered in relation to the above history of racist characterization of the Japanese.  The first involves the conspicuously collective, dehumanized, mass death of the Japanese “Crazy 88” gang at the hands of a single, brightly clad, blonde Caucasian.

In the scene with the “Crazy 88” gang there is a lot to show the representation of Asian culture and the Asian ethnicity, which can be debated as either racist or can pay homage to the Asian culture.

This is used with the Mise-en-scene within the film. The Asian characters within the 88 gang are always shown to be wearing black masks and matching suit. This can be seen as paying homage to the character of Kato, who was played by Bruce Lee in the hit American TV show The Green Hornet. O-Ren Ishii is distinguished from the other characters though, as she is the only character who is wearing something besides the black suit and mask, besides from the Bride.  The Bride, played by Uma Thurman, also sticks out incredibly as she is a blonde haired woman in a bright yellow suit. This sticks her out to the Asian characters as she is more recognisable …
