In Ernies Bar there is a camera shot of Scottie at the bar and it tracks away from his face and tracks forward to Madeleine. It is obsession and that we are getting drawn towards her. Madeleine is always centered in the middle of the screen. This supports my first point that Laura Mulvey states from her Male Gaze Theory that "narrative films use women in order to provide a pleasurable visual experience for men." When Madeleine is leaving the bar. We as an audience get a close up of her face. Her face fills up the shot so that we are not distracted by anything else and are only looking at her.
