This links into Mulveys theory of the male gaze theory in
which she states there are two ways in which Hollywood cinema produces
pleasure. The first involves the objectification of the image, and the second
one the identification with it. Both mechanisms represent the mental desires of
the male subject, of both the audience and the characters within the film.
Good link from Mulvey's theory to the film.
