Gladiator The lighting in this scene is fairly dark, however the light on the two characters face’ are different. The woman seems to have a key light around her throughout the scene, where as the man has one half of his face covered with a shadow effect; this portrays his personality as a split one, the shadow represents his dark and evil side where as the light on the other side of his face suggests he has a bright and friendly side which may be his way of hiding his evil personality.
