In the scenes where Joker is assisting Pyle, they are always
shown to be away from the group and participating in a slightly different
activity. In the first occurrence, when they are loading the gun, they are away
from the rest of the group who are shooting and training. They are in the
foreground and the group is further away in the distance and this isolates
Joker and Pyle.
In the second occurrence, Joker is still showing Pyle how to lace his shoes when the rest of the group is cleaning theirs, in unison. This gives the impression that Pyle is holding the group back because he is always one step behind, he does not have his gun loaded when the rest of the group are out shooting and training and he does not have his shoes laced when they are all cleaning theirs. It throws off the pattern, much like when he was stuck on the obstacle and the marines were climbing up and down beside him. Because of this Pyle is a threat to the group because he is unprepared for combat and pulls the team behind, as well as breaking the chain of repeated behaviour that has become part of group behaviour. Joker who has to assist him is also held back purely because he has to talk Pyle through these simple activities, Joker himself is fully capable of these things but cannot be part of the group because he has to help Pyle, so not only has the Corp been weakened by one member, but two and this is Pyle’s fault. This threatens the unity of the group.
