                     How important is a film franchise

A film franchise is very important to the company making it and the reason being is that if the company can make a film franchise successful they can have a lot of other things to go with that.

The James bond franchise is very important to Sony and the reason being is that although the films themselves make a lot of money the company is able to make more money of the things they can produce of the success of the franchise. This includes selling video games which I am not ashamed to say I have bought a lot of because they used to be good also aftershaves which again I have to admit I have they are not too cheap either. But you are then able to sell the less expensive products like shot glasses, action figures, toy guns and books. But there is one main thing the James Bond franchise I renowned for and that is it’s main soundtrack of the this is because there has always been a big introduction in the bind films at the start to get people in the mood and every time they have had these introductions they have been brilliant songs. One main example of a lot of people liking the James Bond soundtracks is the song Skyfall because that was able to reach the number 1 in the UK proving how popular the songs have become. But the main thing is if the franchise keeps going Sony keep making money because all of this merchandise is jut rinsed and repeated as it is all able to make a lot of money over the years. Eventually the merchandise will have made more money than the films because they are that popular this means that it has a great synergy because and will make money for years ad years after the films eventually stop being made that is if they ever stop being made.

Horizontal integration

Horizontal integration is when a film company makes a film expecting it to make a lot of money but at the same time not expecting it to be it’s main source of income. So what they do to make sure they earn even more money out of their products is they end up making games to go along with the movie so they are usually released around the same time to make the most amount of money possible out of their products.
