Men
Men in Get Carter are represented as higher class than women, men in the film are controlling and dominant over all of the female characters. Men, particularly Carter, will get what they want from women. For example, the scene in which Carter tells Edna that she will make them tea and she will not call the police tells the audience that women who should really be quite independent (as she lives on her own) are even subjected to be controlled by men. Carter's character is portrayed as irresistible to all women and has the ability to sleep with whoever he desires.
Men are seen as feared more than they are respected, such as how Kineer has a gang of men under his control - this is not down to how he is an honourable man and they all respect him, this is down to their fear of him and how they are scared of what he would do if they defied him. Carter is feared in this way also, such as when Albert attempts to run from Carter in fear of what he will do to him.
Women
Women are ultimately passive throughout this film. They have no impact on the moving forward of the narrative and are seen as second class citizens by men. Edna attempts to make a stand again Carter but is simply overlooked and her emotions are put aside by him. Women are weak and defenceless against men and are only seen as sexual objects.
