Recap Report
Five most important pieces of research
I found that the main source of research when completing tasks was looking at online articles that other people have written, I found that these gave me a clear understanding of how my essays should be structured, but also gave me many ideas on different topics which I was able to transform into my own views and opinions. Overall this was my favourite source for carrying out research.
I also found that there were many online videos that were of a huge help, many of the videos where shown in a very educational way therefore I was almost virtually learning. The videos also tended to provide a wider range of information; which would be more in depth and explanatory, this was a great help because it allowed me to get a better understanding of the research I was gathering.
I also found that watching films would also be of a great help for getting first hand research which I was able to view solely with my own opinions. This was also a very enjoyable way to gather my research. A quote that I picked up from watching the film Zero Dark Thirty, was ‘kill him for me’. This was a good quote because it basically describes the films plot, which is in fact about the killing of bin laden. This quote had many connotations to American people because it meant more than just the fact that UBL was dead, it meant that terrorism was brought to justice.
I found that in some tasks I would be best looking at primary research, which I would have to gather myself. This is where I would base my research on the views of other classmates, this included a questionnaire in which I would have my classmates complete a series of questions such as ‘favourite film genres’ and then judging on my results come to a conclusion of the information I collected. An example of were I used primary research was when I interviewed Owen Harris about 'what films have you seen that have educated you?'. This was a good way to get the information, it gave me an honest opinionated answer in which I was able to take the response and manipulate it into my own ideas upon the topic.
A final way I gathered my research was via my teacher Matt. This was where I would sit and make notes on the lessons Matt gave and then eventually turn these notes in to my own opinions into an essay form. I found that this was a very easy way to continuously keep on top of my work and always make sure I had notes available to look over.
