What Role do the Media play in La Haine?

The Media during riots in general play an important role as they are responsible for updating the rest of the country or the world on the events happening. The audiences, unless witness to the riots will have to believe the media even if it is wrong.

In La Haine, the media appears at a time when the three main characters are in a park jus talking amongst themselves. they aren't causing any trouble nor are they participating to the riots. The white flash shows the passing of time and how long they have been sitting around doing nothing. when the Media car drives passed, it misses them but then slowly reverses back, to see if they can find anything interesting. The three main boys must look intimidating enough to have participated in the riots for the news crew to approach them, but when Said voices this, they get defensive. the camera is filming at all time, knowing that the boys are getting more riled up and that it is usable footage that they can use to exploit them.

The low angle shot of the news crew makes it look as though they are looking down at an animal enclosure and the attitude of the boys doesn't help toward the medias reaction.
