What role do the media play in La Haine?

The media play a big role in La Haine, this is because they are used to reflect the current fascist views of the French media and certain French political parties. The scene where the three main characters are in the park and are invaded by members of the media on an “urban safari”, the presenter and the camera crew are first seen in the distance attempting to find a “scope”. Throughout the shot the members of the media attempt to demonise the characters, this is done through a collection of high angle camera angles

The scene quickly transitions using a white flash, this is used as an indicator to the audience that quite some time has passed and that during the time the characters have “nothing to do”.
