After the initial introduction to Hartman and the Marines, we are then shown them jogging in complete unison, square formation with Hartman jogging on the sidelines next to them chanting vulgar war chants.
Now that Joker has been established as a character, we recognise his voiceover as he sets the environment for the training camp and tells us recent information such as location, how long the camps for and also reveals how he feels about some of the people there, 'the phoney tough and the crazy brave.'.
Where the marines are jogging is set up like a stereotypical war training camp with green jeeps parked nearby and other groups of marines walking and jogging in the background showing that the entire camp is full of men who all conform to the authority they are presented with and no-one stands out just yet. Hartman leads the group with war chants which are very vulgar and are used to make the marines uncomfortable when shouting it back to him
