Shocking Cinema - Trainspotting Dead Baby Scene
I found this scene in Trainspotting the most disturbing in the entire film. In the extract Allison's baby Dawn is found dead from neglect, leading to the group discovering her body in her crib. I found how it was shot the most shocking thing about it. The camera pans across the crib, edging slowly up towards Dawn's face. The camera lingers on the baby for a few seconds which made me feel very disturbed, especially seeing the baby's distorted face. Also the sound of Allison screaming and crying made the scene more distressing and shocking as you can feel the pain in her voice at the loss of her daughter. However, what shocked me the most about Allison was that soon after seeing her daughter's body she begs Renton to 'cook her up a shot' some heroin to ease the pain. I also felt this extract was shocking as anything to do with children makes me extremely uncomfortable, especially young children.
