From the first shot of this scene the rape victim is shown from the male gaze. The first shot starts at the man before panning over to his wife as she gets up to open the door. already this shows that she was put onto this world to serve men and is controlled by men. as she gets to the entrance hall we, as the spectator, can see her body from every angle as mirrors span the walls. upon answering the door she initially refuses to allow them entry.
