Narnia - Film failure

In class we had to pick a film and find reasons why it was considered a failure, I decided to choose Narnia: The lion, the witch and the wardrobe.
Reasons it was a failure;
  • The visuals were very good but the story line never lived up to the actual imagery of the film
  • People who read the books expected more from the films, films didn't include everything from the books
  • The narrative tended to drag its self on in the first half, meaning people got bored and told their friends not to see the film
  • Lost ratings in the box office
  • People had been exposed to other books and films like Harry Potter and LOTR meaning that Narnia didn't live up to their standards
  • It wasn't as complex as the other films and felt it was a bit child like
  • People were not very interested in Narnia when they had all these other complex big block buster films that challenged them more as an audience
  • Came out in the cinema when other big block busters came out meaning people would rather go and see the other films.
