R.I.P.D. Film Failure

R.I.P.D. was set to be a top succeeding block buster film, however, with a budget of $130 million, it only made $13 million within the first week. This is one of the reasons why it was a failure. Other reasons are thought to be due to the actors.  There have been many critics and reviews that have doubted Ryan Reynolds performance on screen and opening a movie which could have affected the entire movie itself.


With the film based off a dark horse comic book and having a hybrid genre of fantasy, sci-fi and action, it was set to believe that the film was a copy off other similar films; Ghost busters and Men In Black. Nobody wants to pay to go and see a film they have basically already seen before or a film that is vastly similar to others because then expectations aren't met and the film becomes boring. This is another reason why this film did not succeed. Also, the film was based off unknown material and wasn't advertised very well.

The special effects throughout the film had a lack of amazement and were unpolished, they didn't meet audience expectations when needed and this let the film down due to the fact that special effect were a main focus throughout the film.
