Alice in Wonderland Film Review

In this reboot of the classic Disney film that we all know and love. Wonderland or now Underland as it is known to its inhabitants. Is a much darker place then what it was in the classic Disney film we have all grown to know and love. This dark and twisted Underland that has been created from the mind of Tim Burton comes together with the help of amazing 3D and live action with animation brings the movie to life.

In this new take we a much more grown up Alice (Wasikowska) that is looking for her place in life which see end up finding after she take a tumble back down the rabbit hole that see is all too familiar with. To help save Underland and its inhabitants from the Red Queens (Bonham Carter) clutches and restore peace to this mad world.

At the start of the movie we see that Alice escapes a surprise engagement party were she learns that is to be married to a stuck up aristocrat. I feel that they could of handle it in a better way and think that it was just a way to get her to fall back down the rabbit hole. I think the scene in which we see Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole was an amazing use of green screen, cgi and camera work give you the feeling that you are falling down the rabbit hole with Alice. I also like the fact that we are reintroduced to the potion and cake as well as the famous door to Underland that were iconic to the Book and Disney movie. As well as the odd but loveable characters from the story. We also see some of Burtons on dark touches such as and my personal favourite the castle moat that is filled with the heads of the Red Queens victims with Alice must use as stepping stones to cross. I think personal touches of Burtons own really make this movie his own and put his own stamp on the movie.

I also think that the battle seen with the Jabberwocky was a great use of the 3D effects. Also I like the way it was played out. The fact that she went through the whole movie believing that she was not the right Alice when all the time she just need to believe in herself.
