Fellowship on the ring
First shot we see is a wide shot,
with the Hobbits underneath the tree looking isolated scared and lonely this
effect comes across because they take up a small space so the is a lot of space
around them so we are just waiting for something else to come into shot. The
director has made that happen so the audience can began to feel the tension
build up. In the next shot you see the Ring Waith appear at the top of the
picture. So now In the shot you can see all four Hobbits and the Ring Waith.
This is telling the audience that some bad is going to happen.
The next shot is a medium close
up (MCU) on Frodo. You can tell by his face that is feeling very nervous and
afraid. As the audience you can tell that Frodo is very scared because he takes
up the hole shot. This makes him look isolated and it makes it look like he has
absolutely no where to go and if the Ring Waith gets of is horse that all of
the Hobbits are in great danger.
In this particular shot you can
only see Frodo and a branch just covering the top of his head also it is an
extreme close up (ECU). You can only see his eyes and his nose. This really
does show how scared he actually is. Also he is in a very tight place so once
again the director has made the audience feel like Frodo has literally know
where to go or something really bad is going to happen to him an the other
Hobbits.
The next shot is a cut in of the
hoof smacking down of the floor the other one is the Ring Wraiths foot and the
horse’s mouth with all this armour on it. All these little shots represent
power and control the reason is because both the Ring Waith and his horse are
very loud and the Hobbits are feeling very vulnerable because they are both
capable of hurting the Hobbits.
The next shot is a low angle shot
this is because the camera is starting low and looking up at the Ring Waith
witch makes him look huge and makes the Hobbits look extremely small. Also
because the Ring Waith covers most of the shot the Hobbits also look like they
have know where to move at all and they look very trapped and all the space
around them has been covered by the Ring Waith. At this point the scene is very
tense due to the fact the director has made the audience feel like anything
could happen to the Hobbits at any moment.
The next shot is a high angle
shot this is because the camera is in a high position and filming down. In the
shot is has the Ring Wraith’s hand on the branch and Frodo’s face. When the
Ring Waith places is hand on the branch all the insects that live in that particular
tree all leave this shows the power and control he has because the insects that
leave are spiders witch in real life humans are normally scared of them. So for
someone to scar of spiders prove that he is a very powerful person.
M- few grammar mistakes eg. began should be begin.
ReplyDeleteW- you identified the shot types accurately
M- very good analysis although you need to say how the feelings are created via the camera
W- all names and sentences begin with capitals and end with full stops
W- you have a very keen insight with how everything can generated by camera angles
