Maze Runner Review

Maze runner film review.

So maze runner is not only an amazing book but an incredible film, that is packed full of action, drama and most importantly and flawless story line. Even though the story line is simple it is very effective, a young boy gets sent up to live in a maze (with no memory of who he is or was) with around 30-40 other boys, these boys have been trying to escape for three years and as soon as Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) comes out of the lift their whole world is tuned upside down.  But of course the main character always changes things he does this by defying the rules and being (using a quote from the movie) “not like the others… your curious”
This film is like other action films but because of the tension and suspense you feel attached to the characters which means your eyes will not come off the screen. Your mind is going crazy watching this film because if all its mystery and questions, but however hard you think the main questions don’t get answered, this is another reason the film hooks you.
Even though the maze runner has so much mystery the camera and editing work in this film is also magnificent. All the angles shot represent so much about not only the characters but the world they are living in. The precision of the camera adds realism to the film in scenes. This would help the audience feel a connection with the boys as it shows there facial expressions more as it isn’t shaking as much as a normal action film would. Shots such as argument, fight and running scenes got more intense by the use of sound such as the dramatic drums, trumpets and most of an orchestra. I think by using these low and deep instruments really adds tension and the emotions of the cast.
Because of all the questions you ask yourself in this film the ending for some views will be a little annoying as the questions just keep building but I find that this adds more emphasis on the mystery of why the boys and girl are in the maze, and why they were placed there. And I know this film is a trilogy but I think some people would have wanted a few more questions answered.
The action is this film is very much needed as it just completes the film, people may say there is too much running but the film is called maze RUNNER.  I found the fighting scenes a little brutal at some points but again I think this adds to the plot as the maze is a fight for survival. The actions really where needed as it shows us the real strive for survival within the maze against the boys and grievers (basically metal flies).  These fights scenes also added tension to the film which I think made the film more realistic.
The acting in this movie is incredible I think the main actors really transformed into the character they were playing.  I think the relationship between the boys really went well with the story line, the relationships also really helped with the connection to the audience as everyone has close friends who would fight for you so I think by having these relationships really added direct address with the audience. I feel the actors really portray there characters really well by their facial expression and the effort they put in.

Overall I think the maze runner is a brilliant film and is really worth the watch as it has everything I  imagined it would action, drama, fights and of course mystery. The directing and cast worked well with the type of movie they produce. They did this by the type of editing and sound used throughout the movie.  The narrative of this film isn’t confusing at all. I recommend this film to people over the age of 12 as some scenes are quite brutal. But this really is a fantastic movie.
