In this scene we see the police abuse their position from the point of view of Alex. Throughout the scene we are constantly encouraged to view the police as antagonists and the ones with problems. This can be seen through them spitting on Alex, which can be deemed as morally wrong from the point of view of the spectator. The actions of authority figures are shown to be brutal and uncalled for, encouraging us even further to align with Alex. Due to being aligned with Alex, we feel sorry for him and empathise with him when he is being beaten in a room by fully grown men. This further discourages us to view the authority figures as having good intentions.
During the interrogation, we get a point of view shot of the police and the head teacher from Alex. The high angle shot looks up at all the men towering over us and encourages us to view them as dangerous and deeming whilst making Alex seem innocent and vulnerable. After the shot, Alex is positioned as a victim and we view the world as he perceives it. He is outnumbered in the room and is covered in blood, reinforcing his vulnerable image and reflecting how he views himself.
