How important are social networks to producers and audiences as a form of promotion?

As the film world ages, the social media world along side it becomes more relevant to everyday society. In 2016, using social media for an audience is a way to gain instant access to exclusive content of that film. in 2009 prior to Avatars release, fans were able to gain instant exclusive content straight to their personal Twitter profiles. All they had to do was simply retweet a tweet that allowed them to gain access to listening to the film's sound track. The average number of followers a Twitter user has 157, so the producers letting their fans gain free access to content they have to share with their followers, this then creates a domino effect of other fans seeing this tweet, which then they share with their followers so they can gain access and then cycle continues and continues as more and more people see this promotion of the film. As more fans see it, the more popular and hype for the film gets which then secures their established audience and fan base so the film knows money will be made.

Social media has became a hub for news all around the world. It is free to put what information out on social media whenever a user wants to. As social media pages such as Twitter, YouTube and Facebook grow, they are becoming more predominant for information in society. Youtube was the favourite place on the web for viewing trailers and was an important link to official film websites.
