Why you chose the article

It discusses the similarities between Hamlet and The Lion King.

Who the article was written by and an overview of what it is about

Mari Ness.
it draws comparison between the two and suggests that The Lion King is an adaptation of a Kimba the White Lion rather than Hamlet. Although there are some similiarities, the main argument is that The Lion King is a separate thing altogether.

The main points of the article - including some quotations

For the record, I haven’t seen Kimba the White Lion in English or Japanese, so I have no opinion on this. But, let’s assume for a moment that Disney was lying through their teeth here, and The Lion King is a remake of Kimba the White Lion, and not “Lions try to do Shakespeare, with a Nazi scene and some hula dancing.” That still makes The Lion King an adaptation of a film, not a literary source.

This suggests that TLK was not adapted from a Shakespearean classic but rather an adaptation of a pre existing anime. The similarities and lack of credit suggests that the idea was either stolen or entirely coincidental. I disagree with this as the writer has not seen Kimba the White Lion so there is no evidence that they are anything alike, apart from the fact that they both feature lions.

Never mind that the film is usually classified as a Disney original.

The fact the film does not directly credit Hamlet as a source of adaptation indicates that any similarities were merely inspirational or unintentional.

entirely by the desire to bring Hamlet to its natural environment out on the savannah with noble lions and evil hyenas, creating a sort of Bambi meets Hamlet.

Combining the use of animals and a classic play creates a relatable story suitable for everyone.

Videos and/or images of texts that relate to the ideas expressed in the article with some analysis

This picture draws the similarities and slight differences between the two. This disputes the idea of the article as it indicates that the two share very similar plot lines.

This video suggests Disney finds a balance between being family friendly and honouring the true source. A notable change is Hamlet's father encouraging Hamlet to get revenge turning into advice to remember who Simba is, which is clearly more suitable advice for a children target audience.  An overall opinion of the article

I disagree with the article as it seems to indicate that the two forms of media are entirely separate but The Lion King production company have stated many times that the film drew inspiration from Hamlet.
