Shaun of the Dead film review

Shaun of the dead is a British zombie Comedy released in 2004. Directed by Edgar Wright, and written by both him and Simon Pegg, who was also the main character, Shaun. It achieved both great critical and commercial success in multiple countries even though it was a low budget film that cost only £4,000,000. It achieved a 91% approval rating on rotten tomatoes and a 76/100 on Metacritic. It made £1.6 million on its opening weekend, and netted £6.4 million by mid-May of the same year; also to date, the film has made $30,039,392 on the world wide box office since its release. One of the striking factors that made this film so great was the style in which it was directed. Wrights style is both unique and great to watch, the writers wrote a lot of ‘puns’ and humorous one liners that make you laugh every time you hear them. The film ties in the relatable real life struggles of our hero ‘Shaun,’ and the mounting struggle of the zombie apocalypse and protecting people who mean a lot to him. It is a fantastic edition to the zombie and comedy genre, and is a must watch if you are fans of either of the genres. I personally was amazed at how great of a watch it was even though it had a small production budget. I gave this film a 9/10.

  1. A sound first attempt but in future you must follow the guide more closely. Also, try to include more personal response and criticism in to your work. For example, you mention that the directorial style is a major factor in your enjoying the film but you don't expand on the specifics. Your work is under the required word count.
