During the treatment scene, how is the spectator punished?

At first the spectator aligns with Alex as he enjoys the films that are being shown. We also get point of view shots from him what he is watching on the screen. As the scene goes on there are more films that are shown and Alex starts to feel sick. Throughout this scene the camera is focused on him from this point and then we lose our point of view from him. The camera is also slightly higher showing he is now scared and vulnerable and we are shown that he is distressed by what he is seeing and going through. As the spectator we are being punished by watching the torture that Alex is going through and it makes us feel uneasy. We are being punished as we have participated in the violent acts he has done as we have aligned with him and now are being punished and at this point we are unable to enjoy the film as we have done.
