During the treatment scene, how is the spectator punished?

During the scene in which Alex undergoes the Ludivico treatment, the spectator is simultaneously punished for their implicit role within the crimes Alex and the droogs committed earlier in the film. Initially in the scene, Alex is enjoying the videos he is being made to watch. As a spectator, we are allowed to enjoy the videos too, as they are primarily what is shown on screen during this time. Likewise, when Alex begins to lose the enjoyment he was previously taking from the "viddies", the spectator is further denied any view of them. We are instead forced to watch Alex endure the physical and mental torture this extreme level of treatment is enforcing upon him.

For the spectator, this is uncomfortable to watch, and we are essentially punished alongside Alex for our crime of voyeurism in the first segment of the film, before Alex's arrest. This punishment comes from being denied the pleasure of being shown the videos, and instead enduring watching "our humble narrator" in agony. The only other spectators, internally or externally, are the male doctors in the room, who can enjoy the violent videos and images without any implication of punishment.
