In this scene we see the Dj using his decks to blast out anti-police messages. He reinforces the violence within the projects and the riots by mixing the song 'I regret nothing' with 'sounds of the police'. This connotes that everyone in the projects is anti-police and that violence and this perception of 'Us vs Them' is constantly being reinforced.
Before the Dj starts playing his music, we get a mid shot of him from behind. This is used to show his t-shirt which features the name/logo of the American/Latino band 'Cyprus Hill'. This has been purposely done to connote that the Dj adopts a surrogate culture. The fact that he is remixing Hip Hop music from New York also empathises this point. Furthermore, it suggests the point that most people from the projects accept different cultures due to not being able to accept their own and just like Hubert and Vinz, Dj Killa partly adopts Americas.
The camera throughout this sequence is not stable which represents the environment as also unstable. This can be backed up by the previous scene where we see people from the projects just hanging around the streets bored. The fact that earlier on in the film we seen that Hubert owned a gym and now we have seen Dj Killa with his decks suggests that the only way to escape the projects and this environment is through the use of sports and music.
