A clockwork orange
Driving in the car to the first attack:
Alex again narrates this scene, using unfamiliar language, 'gutty-wuts', as he describes the sensations he experiences. Again inviting the spectator to this unusual world in which he lives. The point of view shot from Alex of the road ahead as he speeds down it, encourages us to emphasise with his excitement. The victims driving down the road, whom they cause conflict for, are unidentifiable as we only see the vehicles, not the people. Thus we do not feel sympathy for them making us align more with Alex. Alex is framed on his own in a close up as he talks of the 'laughs' he has when he is violent. Removing the other men from the frame forces the spectator to look at him only, making him be the one to identify with.
The attack on the couple:
Woman character is obedient when husband tells her to let the man in even though she was suspicous of him. This discourages us to feel much remorse for her as we too adopt Alex's view point and see her as someone who serves a man.
Assault and murder of Yoga teacher: The phallic statue that Alex uses to kill the woman with takes away the seriousness of the murder. It is in most shots, moving which some may find comical. Orchestra non-diegetic sound also takes a way the seriousness of the scene and makes it less realistic.
