Representation of men - Liam Tomkins

Glenda is used by at least four men as an object for sex. Glenda has had sex with Jack, the Fletcher brothers and we can assume Kinnear because of her close relationship to him. This shows that more than anything, the contraceptive pill benefitted men more than it did women. The contraceptive pill allowed men to use women as prostitutes because of the greatly reduced risk of pregnancy, meaning that women are controlled even more by men because now not only can men use women as servants, but also as object for sex and nothing more.

The women in Get Carter are used as tools due to sexual liberation. When we first meet Kinnear. Kinnear uses Glenda to keep Jack distracted and provide him with information whilst he is in the North. This shows that due to the introduction of the contraceptive pill, the men in Get Carter started to use women as a way of distracting and entertaining other men so that they would not interfere with their business, meaning that women are no more than a tool and that the contraceptive pill made women less liberated than before.
