In this article you get the point of view from Sony itself as well as native activist Walter Ritte on whitewashing in AlohaSony said that "while some have been quick to judge a movie they haven’t seen and a script they haven’t read". This suggests that people are too quick to judge the film and if they want their opinion heard they should see film first. Another point they make is that "Cameron Crowe spent years researching this project and many months on location in Hawaii, cultivating relationships with leading local voices". This can be see in the film with the actor Dennis ‘Bumpy’ Kanahele playing a key role. But native activist Walter Ritte states that the use of the films title (Aloha) is only used to make money and to  "bastardise the word". This shows that the film is not respectful to Hawaiian culture.
