The images below present a clear representation of how the City of God itself changes throughout the film.
At first the city is bathed in golden light and occupied by low level 'cheeky-chappy' criminals. As the film progresses the tone of lighting becomes darker, reflecting the increased tensions within the city of the rise of violent crime and murder.
You must analyse the Mise-en-scene of all our films - it provides excellent insight in to the worlds that the characters inhabit.
